IAMA Goals are to:

1- Collect, organize, and disseminate arts-medicine information internationally.
2- Provide a forum for communication between professionals in the arts and health.
3- Provide information on treatment resources for those artists and performing artists having physiological or psychological therapeutic needs.
4- Strive to prevent dysfunction among practitioners of the arts.
5- Promote the health and performance capabilities of artists and performing artists.
6- Provide to health and arts professionals information on educational resources that will enhance their skills in supplying preventive and therapeutic services to artists.
7- Establish a library for arts and health professionals.
8- Promote scientific research which explores and develops the relationships among aesthetics, artistic activities, the creative process, and human health.
9- Promote the creative arts therapy movement which studies the healing potential of the arts for individuals, institutions, and society as a whole.
10- Rehumanize health education and health institutions through the appropriate application of the arts.
11- Encourage and provide a forum for physicians and other health professionals who are themselves avocational artists.
12- Enlist the support and consultation of artists to enhance the artistic and creative skills of health professionals.
13- Widen the public consciousness of arts-medicine and its practitioners.
