Arts-ticulation: Articulating Health Care needs of the Elderly through the Arts

This successful event was co-sponsored by and held at the Philadelphia County Medical Society offices at 2100 Spring Garden Street.

IAMA views the arts as powerful tools in communicating health care needs. We are embarking upon an innovative and creative new project - illustrating how the arts can and are used to articulate health care needs. Our first focus was the elderly and on November 21st, in Philadelphia, PA, IAMA coordinated and co-sponsored a symposium and a multimedia arts exhibit/performance illustrating the feelings of the elderly about the process of aging with its concomitant decline in functioning and health. Depictions of aging and illness occured through drawing and painting, sculpture, photography, music, dance, song, prose and poetry.
